SUMMARY:April Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Panorama of the Thames \nJohn Inglis\, Director of the Panorama of the Thames project\, will speak about this which  began in 1999\, in response to public concern that familiar river views were rapidly changing as a result of new building developments – changes which have increased significantly since then\, and continue as the banks of the Thames through London become even more desirable for luxury housing. \nThis record takes the form of panoramic images which show riverside architecture in the context of the waterway\, and includes integrated data on every building.

SUMMARY:March Meeting
DESCRIPTION:There will be a members only AGM at 7.30 to be followed by a 15 minute social & drink. \nFollowing the social there will be a showing of the Friends of Wandsworth Common’s highly rated film Common Memories which many have not had an opportunity to see. In fact\, many of those have seen it would like to see it again! Non-members just wanting to see the film should arrive at 8pm. \nCommon Memories\, premiered at the Wandsworth Heritage Festival in 2023\, is a beautifully produced oral history. This hour long film has been distilled from 20 hours of interviews with lifelong residents of Wandsworth Common relating their memories of their long lives in this area. \nThe film is a great testament to the volunteers: Ros Page and her team of interviewers\, Rosa Navas\, who sensitively edited the footage into such a wonderful film\, and of course to the interviewees themselves.

SUMMARY:October Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Why a Green Group in the Wandsworth Society? \nBruce St Julia-Bown and team will outline the ambitions of our recently formed Green Group and hope that members will participate in developing its agenda. \nThere is nothing like a 40 degree heatwave to sharpen concerns about climate change\, air quality and water security. There is so much to be done at the local level if COP26 targets are to be met. The Society is keen to promote and participate in local actions necessary to allow furuture generationsto live at least the lives we have been priveleged to enjoy.

SUMMARY:September Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Net Zero Buildings. Why? When? How? \nTom Spurrier\, Project Director of engineering firm Hoare Lee\, will speak about the Net Zero route the UK Built Enviroment.  We now have some very clear messages on how the regulatory approach to energy performance of buildings needs to change\, and the speed at which this needs to happen. \nThe issues around decarbonisation of our buildings and infrastructure can be boiled down to some really simple messages\, but the delivery of this at scale across the entire industry quickly becomes a complex and interrelated puzzle.
