July Meeting report
As a change from our regular hall based meetings, John Dawson, aided by representatives of both the South West London and St George’s Mental Health Trust and the housing developer, led a walk around the part-completed Springfield Village development. This is evolving gradually from the site of the former hospital buildings and the old London Golf Centre. The hospital is making a £150m investment which will sit at the centre of the site surrounded by new build housing, converted historic hospital buildings and a 32 acre park which is already open, in part, to the public.
June Meeting Report
Frances Craig , the Putney Librarian, gave a fascinating talk about the library, its History and evolution to being a valuable community hub today.

Talk on the work of St George’s Hospital
On 13 April Kate Slemek, Managing Director of St George’s Hospital gave an excellent short talk, followed by a longer Q&A session to the Society. This was a most reassuring presentation of interest to those of us fortunate enough to be treated at this hospital. A recording of the talk can be seen here:
Society objections to proposal by AELTC for the Wimbledon Park Project
A second, supplementary objection has been submitted to LB Wandsworth and LB Merton with regard to the proposed extension to the Wimbledon tennis development to include additional show courts, tennis facilities and and public access around the lake, on the former Wimbledon Park Golf Course. This follows a full objection to an earlier scheme put forward in September 2021 and reflects new environmental evidence.
