Conservation of Mount Nod Huguenot Cemetery

This small but historically important piece of open space will be given a new lease of life by the Council with work getting under way in the last week of November. The half acre Huguenot burial ground at the top of East Hill, home to a number of listed tombs and graves, will then be reopened to the public as a small “pocket” park .

To learn more about the Huguenots in Wandsworth we will have a speaker from the Huguenot Society in February.

Wandsworth Bridge Repairs set to start in February

The bridge will undergo a £6m upgrade

£6 million pounds had been earmarked to give the bridge a makeover, with works due to start in February 2020 and to last about 10 months. The works will include a series of detailed structural repairs, carriageway resurfacing, waterproofing, painting and corrosion protection.

Low energy LED floodlights will be installed underneath its arches so they can be lit at night and existing street lamps will be replaced with Victoriana-style architectural lights.

B&Q site: Goodbye to all the trees

Following closure of the store 3 weeks ago, to allow the L&G development of flats to rent, the diggers have moved on to the site in force. They ripped up all the car park trees last week and this week it is the turn of all the trees around the periphery of the site.

Down comes the last tree on Smugglers Way beside the old customer entrance on 4 November……

…and here is the new view along the North side of Swandon Way at 11am on 5 November – shortly to be obscured by hoardings.
