Tours around the Ram Brewery

Brewery and Stable Tours are now being offered around the former Youngs Brewery, now the Ram Quarter. There is an the opportunity to dig deeper into the heritage of the iconic buildings on a guided tour led by John Hatch, brewer and raconteur extraordinaire.

Visitors will be taken behind the scenes for a journey through the London landmark, including the old stables where the Shire horses used to be kept and the nanobrewery itself.

Brewery tours will operate on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays starting at 2.30pm and lasting just under an hour. Cost is £15 adults; £5 children. To book Book online here: https://bit.ly/2DUg4h4

Consultation on North Wandsworth Masterplan

The council is preparing a masterplan for a large area of industrial land north of Armoury Way and along the Wandle Delta.

The masterplan will be adopted as a Supplementary Planning Document to produce a guide to future development and investment. In order to better understand the wishes and priorities of locals the council are holding two information and feedback sessions. These sessions will be at:Wandsworth Civic Suite, Wandsworth High Street, February 20, 5.30pm – 8.30pm ans in Southside Shopping Centre, next to Waitrose entrance, February 22, 10am -2pm.

Green Light for Climate Action in Wandsworth

On 23 January a sub committe of Wandsworth Council agreed an ambitious Climate Change Action Plan for the borough which aims to become carbon neutral by 2030; it now has to be ratified by the Council’s Executive.

The action plan sets out a number of key themes including energy efficiency, air quality, water management, urban greening and open spaces, planning and sustainable development, waste management, and sustainable transport.

The action plan has a number of targets including increasing tree planting in the borough, purchasing a low emission fleet, as well as launching a comprehensive training programme for staff on carbon literacy.

South West London and St George’s Mental Health NHS Trust (SWLSTG) announced on Monday that it secured government approval to start work on its £150 million development.

SWLSTG has already started construction work on this programme, which will include 839 new homes and a 32-acre public park set to open in 2022.

Ann Beasley CBE, Chairperson of SWLSTG said: “This is the biggest landmark yet in our Estate Modernisation Programme and we are extremely proud of getting permission to go ahead and being able to start work on these brand-new, first class inpatient facilities.

Putney General Election Hustings

The Southfields Grid Residents’ Association have organised election hustings for the Putney Constituency at St Barnabas Church, 146 Lavenham Road, SW18 5EP on Monday 9 December at 8 pm (doors open at 7.30 pm).

Four Putney candidates are be attending : Fleur Anderson (Labour), Fergal McEntee (Green), Will Sweet (Conservative) and Sue Wixley (Lib Dem) . Questions can be submitted in advance, by Friday 6 December, to [email protected].
